How-To: Create Engagement

Prerequisites

• You must have the Manager or CAE role
• For plan-based creation: an approved annual plan must exist

Quick Create Method

Step 1 — Navigate to Engagements

Click Engagements in the left sidebar.

Step 2 — Click "New"

Click the + New button in the top-right corner.

Step 3 — Complete Engagement Details

Field	Required	Description
Title	✅	Descriptive name (e.g., "FY2027 Q1 — Procurement Process Audit")
Type	✅	Compliance, Operational, Financial, IT, Special
Business Unit	✅	Select from Audit Universe entities
Lead Auditor	✅	Primary assigned auditor
Start Date	✅	Planned start date
End Date	✅	Planned completion date
Methodology	Recommended	Select a methodology template
Description	Recommended	Scope and objectives
Team Members	Recommended	Additional auditors assigned
Plan Item	Optional	Link to annual plan item (if applicable)

Step 4 — Save

Click Save. The engagement is created in Draft status.

Expected Result

After creation, you're redirected to the engagement detail page. The engagement appears in the list with a "Draft" badge. Team members receive email notifications.

From Annual Plan

1. Navigate to Planning → [Your Plan]
2. Find the plan item you want to execute
3. Click Create Engagement on the item
4. Details are pre-filled from the plan — review and adjust
5. Click Save

Advancing Through Stages

Best Practices

1. Use descriptive titles — include the fiscal year, quarter, and subject
2. Link to the annual plan — maintains traceability
3. Assign the team early — ensures resource allocation accuracy
4. Set realistic dates — consider audit complexity and team availability
5. Select a methodology — standardizes the engagement approach
