How-To: Engagement Wizard
The Engagement Wizard provides a guided, AI-assisted workflow for setting up new engagements. It generates scoping memos, suggests test procedures, and creates workpaper templates — all based on the selected audit scope and methodology.
Starting the Wizard
- Navigate to Engagements → + New
- Select Use Wizard (instead of Quick Create)
- The wizard opens with a 5-step guided process
Wizard Steps
Step 1 — Scope Definition
| Field | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Title | ✅ | Engagement name |
| Type | ✅ | Select engagement type |
| Universe Items | ✅ | Select auditable entities in scope |
| Objectives | Recommended | What the audit aims to achieve |
| Exclusions | Recommended | What is explicitly out of scope |
AI Assist: Click AI Generate Scope to have the AI draft objectives and exclusions based on the selected entities and their risk profiles.
Step 2 — Methodology Selection
Choose a methodology template that defines the engagement structure:
| Template | Best For |
|---|---|
| Standard Audit | General-purpose internal audit |
| Compliance Assessment | Regulatory compliance reviews |
| IT General Controls | ITGC testing |
| Financial Controls | SOX-style control testing |
| Fraud Investigation | Special investigations |
| Custom | Build your own methodology |
Step 3 — Team Assignment
- Select Lead Auditor from available auditors
- Add Team Members (staff auditors)
- Assign Reviewer for workpaper reviews
- Set Timeline (start/end dates)
The wizard shows capacity warnings if auditors are overallocated.
Step 4 — AI Scoping Memo
The AI generates a comprehensive scoping memo including:
- Background — context about the auditable entity
- Objectives — what the audit will assess
- Scope — boundaries and key areas
- Methodology — approach and standards referenced
- Timeline — key milestones
- Test Procedures — suggested tests based on risks and controls
Review the memo, edit as needed, then click Apply.
The scoping memo is presented as a suggestion with tracked changes. Every AI-generated element includes source citations. You must explicitly click "Apply" to accept each section. All changes are audit-logged.
Step 5 — Review & Create
Review all details from steps 1–4:
- Scope summary
- Team composition
- Timeline
- Generated workpaper templates
- Suggested test procedures
Click Create Engagement to finalize.
The wizard creates the engagement with all configured details, pre-populated workpaper templates, and AI-suggested test procedures. The team receives notification of their assignment.
